The health and well being of your pet is our primary concern. We are proud to offer clean, state of the art boarding facilities for your convenience, and for your pet’s comfort and safety. Any time multiple pets are together in the same facility, the spread of infectious disease is possible. We believe that it is possible to minimize this risk to your pet, but we need your help and cooperation to do it. If your pet’s primary care is done at another hospital, please make sure that we have the vaccination and pertinent medical records at least 48 hours prior to the boarding stay. This allows our staff to ensure that all health requirements are met.
We Board only healthy pets in our Boarding Facility. All pets must also have a completely physical examination in the past year to be eligible for our boarding facility.
RABBIT BOARDING:
Rabbits must be negative for Pasteurella. In order to protect the safety of your rabbit, we will only board healthy pets in our boarding facility. Rabbits are kept in the exotics facility where they won’t be stressed by the noise generated by dogs. Rabbits who are boarding are required to have a negative serology for Pasteurella. This is determined by a simple blood test. Pasteurella multocida is a bacterial organism that causes serious illness in rabbits. This organism can cause upper respiratory disease, inner ear disease, pneumonia, heart problems and abscesses. Unfortunately, many rabbits can be carriers and spread the disease to others without even appearing sick. This bacterium is spread in respiratory secretions through the air or direct contact among rabbits. It can even be spread by people moving between the cages. This disease is often fatal, and requiring a negative Pasteurella test is the best way to prevent rabbits in boarding from contacting this serious illness.
