• Less Pain
The laser seals nerve endings which means that less anestesia is required and post-operative pain is minimized.
• Less Swelling
A laser does not tear, crush or bruise any tissue. As a result there is minimal swelling after the surgery.
• Less Bleeding
Laser surgery causes less bleeding because the laser seals small blood vessels instead of severing them.

• Reduced risk of infection
As the laser removes diseased tissue, it seals the skin and reduces the amount of bacteria present.
• Precision
The laser can very precisely remove unhealthy tissue while minimizing adverse effects to healthy surrounding tissue.
• Faster Recovery
Healing is rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort and a better course of healing.

From declaws to spays and neuters to cancerous tumor removals, nearly all pets will require surgery at some point in their lives. Putting a pet through surgery can be as hard on the owner as it is on the pet. Now, the same laser technology that has simplified and improved so many medical procedures for people is doing the same for our animal friends. We are the only veterinary hospital in the area that offers and routinely uses a CO2 laser for surgery. Laser surgery has amazing benefits verses a typical scalpel blade. While using a laser only small amounts of tissue are removed at a time allowing for extremely precise control of the surgical field. Almost every surgical procedure that is performed with a scalpel can be performed with a laser and is an ideal choice for most surgical procedures on your pet.

What is a laser?
A laser is a device that generates an intense beam of coherent light that can cut, seal or vaporize tissue.

Are lasers new?
Laser technology has been helping doctors to safely and effectively treat patients for more than 30 years. The technology is well proven and well documented, and it is now being adopted by veterinarians to provide better pet care.

How does a laser work?
The way a particular laser works is determined by the specific wavelength of light that it produces. At All Pets Medical & Laser Surgical Center we use a CO2 laser which produces an invisible beam of light that vaporizes the water normally found in the skin and other soft tissue. Because the doctor can precisely control the laser, only a thin layer of tissue is removed, leaving the surrounding areas unaffected.

What type of procedures can a laser perform?
A laser is ideal for a wide variety of procedures for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, horses and other animals. Some of these include the removal of cysts, tumors and warts, as well as specialized internal procedures.
