Parasite Control

Intestinal parasites can be a serious problem for your pet. Here at All Pets Medical & Laser Surgical Center, we recommend some steps to prevent parasite problems with your pet: an annual physical exam (with intestinal parasite screenings), year-round use of a heartworm preventive that also controls other intestinal parasites, and year-round flea and tick control.
Heartgard Plus is an oral monthly heartworm preventative. In addition to heartworm disease, it protects against hookworm and roundworm infestations. Heartgard Plus can be started as early as 6 weeks of age.
Frontline Plus is a monthly topical treatment for flea and tick infestations. It kills existing adult fleas and stops the development of immature fleas. In addition to fleas, it kills all stages of disease-carrying ticks, including the ones that may transmit Lyme disease. Frontline Plus can be started as early as 8 weeks of age.
Revolution is a monthly topical heartworm and flea preventive. In addition to heartworm disease, it controls adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching, prevents American Dog Tick infestations, and treats and controls ear mites and sarcoptic mites, as well as hookworm and roundworm infestations. Revolution can be started as early as 6 weeks of age in dogs, and at 8 weeks of age in cats.
